Rising up twenty floors above the streets of Stockwell, Waylands House is the latest residential tower to be constructed by Wates Living Space.
Promech Services were awarded the mechanical services contract at this landmark development in early 2014 and after the initial design period works commenced in June of the same year. The building is arranged as two connecting blocks, one a 15 storey tower containing 84no affordable apartments, available for rent, the other a twenty storey tower containing 75no properties, all of which are for sale. There are two plant rooms located at either end of the building located on the ground floor, one is the central energy centre which is connected via a plate heat exchanger to the areas district heating system. The Energy centre also houses a back-up, standalone gas fired boiler system which provides heat to the building should the district heating system fail. As part of our works, we designed and installed a fully integrated controls system. The other plant room contains the pumps and water storage for a wet riser system that serves all floors in the higher tower, the lower block has a dry riser, not a wet riser. Altecnic hydraulic heat interface units provide domestic hot water and low temperature hot water for the space heating, radiators to the affordable units and underfloor heating to for sale dwellings. We installed a wet sprinkler system in all the flats to satisfy the requirements of the fire officer, overseen, inspected and signed off by our accreditation body, Firas. All the properties are fitted with a centralised, continuous running, whole house ventilation system. All the apartments in this building are finished to a very high standard with good quality sanitary ware fitted to all the bathrooms, ensuites and WC’s. |
